The Journey for Sight 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run
is coming soon to the Combat Air Museum in Topeka KS
June 21, 2025
8 am Start
There are many people in the Topeka area who simply cannot afford the eyeglasses they desperately need. The Topeka Lions Club serves the community by purchasing eyeglasses for those who qualify. Since 1929 the Topeka Lions has proudly served the Topeka community with sight-related services which are made possible by fundraising efforts.
Requests come from families with young children and/or adults, including individuals from the Topeka Rescue Mission. There is an increased demand for visual assistance, and very few organizations provide this type of assistance. A current prescription is required before the Lions Club can provide assistance with new eyeglasses or replacement lenses for an existing pair of eyeglass frames. The Eyeglass Procurement Program by the Topeka Lions Club provides for a basic eyeglass frame fitted with prescription lenses as prescribed by an eye doctor.
This year the Topeka Lions will host the 39th Annual – Topeka Lions Foundation Journey for Sight, a 10K & 5K Run & 5K Walk.
A longtime member of the Topeka Lions Club, Frank E. Godding, Jr, spearheaded this fundraising event years ago. Runners and Walkers may pick up a registration form at Fleet Feet, at 21st Street and Wanamaker, next to Target in Topeka, KS, or register online at runsignup.com. Search for Topeka Lions Foundation Journey for Sight. Contributions to the Topeka Lions Foundation are accepted whether you participate as a runner, walker, or just want to help financially.
